Michael Curley serves as an Assurance Manager at Faulk & Winkler. A Certified Public Accountant with 21 years of experience in the accounting and audit professions, Michael leads and oversees audit and assurance engagements for governmental entities and companies with federal and state government contracts. He works closely with clients and engagement teams to ensure compliance with Government Auditing Standards, Uniform Guidance, and other applicable regulations while supporting the efficient completion of engagements from planning through final delivery.

Before joining Faulk & Winkler, Michael spent more than 20 years with the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA), where he audited companies with federal contracts for compliance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS). During his time with DCAA, he conducted financial and performance audits under Government Auditing Standards (the "Yellow Book") and later assumed management responsibilities that included supervising and reviewing audit staff.

Michael approaches each engagement by first understanding both the applicable standards and the client's objectives. He focuses on identifying key requirements, assessing areas of risk, and establishing a clear plan before fieldwork begins. He believes thorough planning helps engagements run smoothly and views every review as an opportunity to develop and mentor staff.

Outside of work, Michael enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. He can often be found on the golf course, hunting, or cooking, and takes particular pride in a well-cooked steak. While he'll watch just about any sport, LSU baseball is his favorite.
